Lately I have been looking at Voodoo Lab's Sparkle Drive. I am looking for a mild bluesy distortion to dirty up my sound just a little before I kick in the tube screamer for solos. I like the idea of blending distorted & clean signal. Any experience out there?

yea i got one i like it. it does nt get real dirty though, i use it to mimic the sound of a tube amp breakin up. it think it's a must have, of course i dont know what kind of music playin either but there's my 2 cents

I have a Sparkle Drive and use it for all of my crunch sounds and leads...I combine the crunch and the clean to make the "heavy" sound more percussive and punchy, not just distored and mushy. I just sent it in to Robert Keeley to have him do his mod on it, they make the clean channel a bit cleaner and the crunch a bit more aggressive and dirty, a new blue LED, they are also fixing my broken switch...all for just $59 (including shipping!!!). I'll re-post after I get it back.

I got my Sparkle Drive back from Keeley, and I am very impressed with the results!!! It's got more gain now and seems even more "punchy", which is just what I wanted...they even fixed my broken switch at no extra charge...nice!!! I agree with Leadlix, this isn't the box to give you heavy distortion...I would go with a Fulltone Distortion Pro or Xotic BB Preamp for that.
