i'll third it. why not, it doesn't cost me anything, right? StratLover, to follow up on yr comments: One more thing.........."If the shoe is wood, throw it." I think we need to keep more threads like this alive as we will be sending out great information as well as good strong opinions to others. i believe a discussion such as this is always valid and productive, even if we end up going our own ways with the same opinion we went into the discussion with. at least it means we're giving thought to the new technology. and i guess that has been a main point i was trying to get across: we choose a technology. just because it exists doesn't mean we have to use it. and refusing a technology doesn't define one as a technophobe. (if that were the case, we'd all be guilty for insisting on playing guitar instead of MIDI keys or tubes instead of SS.) questioning its use doesn't have to be anti-tech or reactionary. after all, one can always reverse the question. (i.e. "why still use analog guitars if digital ones exist?" instead of "why bother with digital guitars?") so, with that, i'll end my tirade against variaxes. i mean it. for reals this time... ;D

The discussion and disassemblage of a various niche in history, time, technology, or opinions is one of the most wonderful and useful things we can do as ARTISTS and CREATORS. None of us will ever stray too far from our tubes and guitars and we will always have our eyes open far enough to see what is happening within the realm of "OUR WORLD." ;D ;D ;D The world of scheeming brains filled with technical and moral support to those NUT"S in need of our talents, expertise and ability to dissect that single certain vault of curiousity and wonder.

variacs are those adjustable auto-transformers that allow you to vary the line voltage from 0 to 120% of normal.
...and they got the name from VARIable A.C.
.............and Eddie VanHalen used to use one on his amps, and the amps didn't last that long, and Jim Marshall said he wouldn't cover them under warrantee, and Eddie said he didn't think that was right, but okay i'll just buy a bunch more amps, and, and, and...
NO, NO, NO! I said Variax not variacs. you know, V - A - R - I - A - X !
OH!
Variax!
Well, that's entirerly different..................................................................nevermind!

I wonder what the guys at Line 6 would think if they knew their product sparked a discussion in which it's quite possible that a handful of people reached a true, artistic pinnacle of self-actualization.
And fourthed.
