I was looking at talk boxes (to feed my recent fascination with Peter Frampton's guitar work on Show Me the Way) and I'm considering purchasing one. I've looked at Danelectro's Free Speech and decided against it. I've also looked at Peter Frampton's Framptone, the Dunlop Heil Talk Box, and Rocktron's Banshee. Im seriously considering the Banshee (to avoid the mess of placing an effects box between my head and cab) But before I buy one, is there anything I should know about these pedals? Has anyone used one before?

what about a digitech talker effect?
afaik it is easier to use.
will try it out this evening (about 20:00 CET) because i got this effect (partially) in my gnx3000

nope, digitech talker won't do.
it is a vocoder and it sounds like a vocoder, although the manual says it emulates a frampton talkbox.
maybe i am too stupid to use it.

I love the talkbox, but realised that in guitar circles too little attention has been given to Stevie's use of the box.
He doesn't just play through it but useless it to modulate his singing with a parallel connected keyboard.
Anybody understands this setup? It's not standard talkbox setup is it?
He did this with many different covers on different gig (have him doing Papa was a Rolling Stone), but the below vid is majestic in its own right.

i was reading in anthony kiedis' biography and he was saying that hillel slovak used to put the tube completely down his throat. is this standard and i never knew it?

no, i've never heard of anyone putting it all the way down their throat.

haha, that was my thought when i read it. im trying to figure out if you get a different sound out of it or what happens. either way, im a bit reluctant to give it a try as it sounds like it could hurt me if i do it wrong.....
