Well, its mt first attempt to mod pedals, my vox wah does not work(see ) guitarnuts2.proboards45.com/index.cgi?board=fx&action=display&thread=1170603925and now the tubescreamer does not work, now I have to say Im pretty good at soldering, so there are no cold solders, all I did was to change the two resistances at the output like mentioned and changed the chip to rc4558 version. So what happends is when i plug the effect in I DO have the light come on, but there is absolutely no output, no noise, nothing, even in bypass mode, so im thinking its got to do with the output resistors, or maybe the chip. AFAIK, the chip is not very sensitive to electomagnetic shock, Ok its winter and maybe drier in my house but i never get spikes touching things, so im pretty shure the chip is fine and also well oriented on the chip holder(pin1 on the upper left of the chip) I dont have the equipment to check it thought. The resistances are correctly placed(changed the 470 to 100 and changed the 100 to 10). I have a 25 watt solder gun, did i burn the resistors? Im really stumped on this thanks for the help.

momo,
Take a test lead and jumper over the circuit by placing one end each on the input jack and output jacks (tip to tip). If you have alligator-style clips, so much the better, but if not, have a buddy play the guitar, while you're holding the test lead.
Got sound? Good. Now try moving the lead around in the area where you laid down solder..... still got sound? Ok, move the test lead back up to the other side of the resistor (or one of them, if they're both connected to the tip terminal). What happens now? (Should be very slightly lower, not dead or distorted.)
Report back with your results, until then, anything else I might say would be pure guesswork.

A dude I know did this mod and installed the chip backwards.... ground pin got power, power pin was grounded.... Dont be that dude. Dual inline pin chips are a fickle mistress.

I got it!.... so this particular ts-9 must of been made a friday afternoon.... the yellow positive lead from the input was squeezed between the casing and one of the pots! I dont know how I got by all these years, the cable was shorting on the case! So anyway, now it works but i cant really judge about the quality of the mod because my daughter is sleeping! tell you tomorrow thanks Sumgai, isnt the internet good sometimes! ;D
