Some aren't that cheap. I have their PsychoFlanger - but it does what you'd want from a flanger. (It really has that "Itchykoo Park" sound).
Somewhat more for the budget minded is the Grilled Cheeze distortion. Definitely not for the timid. It does not have the warm, smooth tube amp kind of sound, but then again it does not that second harmonic distortion sound so prevalent in the 1960's. The best way to describe it is that biting distortion used by Jeff Beck in the Yardbirds song "Shapes Of Things To Come" from 1966. I like this pedal a lot but I wouldn't recommend it as something to be used all the time.

I have their vintage tape echo. For 30 bucks, it really can't be beat. Very versatile, everything from light reverb to several seconds of delay. I've noticed some quality issues though, mainly with the jacks becoming loose. a quick 4 buck replacement and some soldering took care of that though.

I bought a Danelectro chromatic tuner that never did work right. What a piece of junk! It never was consistent with tuning. Sometimes it told you sharp, sometimes flat, sometimes in tune, but when checked against a good tuner it could be off as much as 2 full tones. I have a Boss TU-2 now and will never get rid of it. I also will never spend another cent on a Danelectro product. Maybe I just got a bad one, but I don't want to waste time on cheap stuff, and their too-low prices lead me to believe they are selling too-low quality.
Cheap is.

Carl, Come on, man... tell us how you really feel about this! ;D Yeah, Danelectro certainly is proof that you get what you pay for. Some like it, some don't. Perhaps the wallet has an invisible link to the eyeball, eh? sumgai

Thats why I try not to buy " cheap crap" Id rather wait till I can buy what I want. Even if it means saving and waiting. There are so many reviews of products out there. I really do my homework before I make a purchase, up to and including talking to you guys at GN2. *warm & fuzzy moment*

Sorry guys, didn't mean to flame on the subject. I just felt that I had a bad experience with the tuner and didn't want anybody to waste any money on one. This happened a few years ago before I found this site (actually before I had internet access) and I jumped on what I thought would be a good deal without any research or guidance other than the salesman.
Since then, I've bought several Boss pedals and have been very happy with the quality. I love the TU-2 and use the daisy-chain option to power the rest of the pedalboard. A friend of mine is in love with Digitech and has had great luck with their stuff. I have a Blues Driver, but I'd kind of like to try out the Bad Monkey. They're half the price of the BD, and with my previous experience with inexpensive pedals I'm leery. Anybody played thru one?
Thanks, Carl

I remember a couple years back when GC had gobs of Danelectro guitars in stock. They looked cool and shiny and all...but if you picked one up, they had sloppy tuning gears, a flimsy bridge, loose knobs and jacks. Though....there was s o m e t h i n g about them that was cool, the necks were decent and they sounded like nothing else. I remember thinking "If I replaced all the hardware (except for the pups), this would be a decent guitar". That's not something you should be thinking when buying a new guitar (though over time since coming here, I think that way more and more ). If they're that cheap with something they're selling for $299, what do you expect for anything that they sell for $50 or less.
