Takamine CT-4BII preamp - tuner failed

Hi,

I have a Takamine EF216S WR - it's a bit like this www.rockingrooster.co.uk/productTakamineEF216S-323-108.html only a deeper red.

It has a CT-4BII preamp module and the tuner has stopped working. The preamp still works though.

Is this a common fault? IS it easy to fix? Or am I looking at a new preamp?

Theres sooooo many little wires in there. They are also hard to get to...
Can you see if a wire has come loose?

This may be.... uhh... a little late, but I never read it until now.

Many of the Takamine preamp units are interchangeable with their other units.

The word "interchangeable" interchanges quite nicely with the word "upgradeable" in my book.

I also seem to recall that just a few weeks back we had something like a 2 year, 6 month resurrection... can't find that one right now, sorry to say.

I still have the same problem, and I just landed a gig with a covers band who need an acoustic.

I'm *still* looking for a schematic.

1 year 5 months since last post on this thread. You get a 'highly commended' only (but welcome back anyway).

If the preamp still works, and if it was mine, I would just get an external tuner of whatever type suits best. I doubt if it is practical to open up the Takamine module, find such a problem and fix it. If the preamp does not work at all, replace the whole thing with another Takamine unit.

Yes, but it's > 3 years since my original post!

Seriously, I think the preamp still works (not tried in a while) and I have a Boss CT-2 so I can manage. Would be nice to get the CT-4B tuner working though. I'm pretty sure it's just a cable off - maybe power or something.

Will have a dig around tomorrow.
