Hi again guys, A while back I got a Peavy ValveKing 112 amp which I love, but it didn't come with a footswitch. And the footswitch you could buy was like $40 and reviews on musician's friend said it was cheap plastic and broke easily AND went out of stock right before I went to order it. But I have this two button footswitch that came with this Crate bass amp (yeah it has a really terrible distortion channel) that was not really needed so I figured I could just use that, and as you can surmise by the fact I'm telling this story here, it didn't work. So tonight I finally took the thing apart hoping to rewire it in a way to make it work, and it looked simple enough and I figured this was something i could do. It takes a TRS audio cable and has two wires going from that jack to the two toggle buttons. there are three terminals on the switches and six (three per side) on the jack. I am assuming that the extra 3 terminals on the other side are duplicates but I'm only 99% sure of that. There was also 2 LEDs that were connected to the buttons on the same terminals the wires were that lit up when the button was toggled on, but after much experimentation I realized the LED on the channel switcher button was why it was not working, and removing it made it work! I'm guessing that however much power the LED was taking was making the switch not work. Now thats fine and all and I was happy with that, but the other button which controls the gain/volume boost does not function at all and I cannot for the life of me figure out why. The channel switch connects the ring and the sleeve of the TRS jack and the boost switch connects the tip and the ring (which after much googling I found to be standard). Now I tried a lot of things trying to fix this, using the other side of terminals on the jack, using the tip and ring instead of tip and sleeve, using the other combination of terminals on the button, switching the wires to the other terminals at one end, reattaching the LED, etc. Nothing worked. And the crazy thing is, I'm somewhat sure the second button worked before I did any mods. Now honestly I don't really care about switching the volume and gain boost with the footswitch, but I'd rather if it was stuck on one setting, it would be stuck on, not off. Anyone have any ideas?

This is the footswitch used on the Valve King and Windsor: Peavey's Online Store - Buy This Footswitch. There are no schematic posted for the ValveKings. You will need to find a schematic for the ValveKing or the footswitch to determine how the footswitch operates. It is not possible to determine much without some technical info. Here are a couple of threads a'board related to footswitches and amps. Crate footswith, Fender Amp. installing led's into amp footswitch.( Edited by sumgai to make the Peavey link work like it should. (It wasn't easy! ))

thanks chris. I've heard that peavey is pretty good about helping out their customers, perhaps I can persuade them to send me a schematic.
