HEY THERE GUITAR NUTS
I HAVE AN OLD BOSS ME5 MULTI PEDAL UNIT, I'M TRYING TO PUT TOGETHER THE SAME EFFECTS THAT ARE INSIDE THE UNIT, BUT ONLY IN SEPERATE PEDALS.
THE MAIN PROBLEM IS I LOVE THE SOUND OF THE DISTORTION / OVERDRIVE THAT I GET FROM THE UNIT. EVERYTHING ELSE, DELAY, EQ ,CHORUS, ETC...I CAN REPRODUCE, BUT I CAN'T SEEM TO DUPLICATE THE UNITS OVERDRIVE DISTORTION.
I DON'T WANT TO GET RID OF THE UNIT, I JUST WANT TO REPRODUCE IT IN INDIVIDUAL PEDALS. THE OD / DIST IS DRIVING ME NUTS !!!!
PLEASE HELP............THANKS

A stupid question, but have you tried the Boss SD-1, DS-1, BD-2 etc??? I guess that they would sound pretty much along the same lines. I suppose the OD-20 would be defeating the point somewhat.
Otherwise I would suggest perhaps starting to look for something else to love too- it's nigh on impossible to get one unit to sound exactly like another, and whilst I see the appeal of moving to individual units (I am more of a 'pedals' guy than a 'multi-effects' one), if you already have the sounds you want...?
There are plenty of good effects out there- the search can become extremely expensive of course, but for overdrive, I'll stick my neck out and recommend the cheap Digitech Bad Monkey. Sounds better than you'd expect for smooth Fender-ish stuff, I use it as a light drive with a boost for solos. I'm keeping an eye out for a good distortion myself at the moment, so I can't offer too much there, but the point is that there are plenty more (very tasty) fish in the sea, and you will always be able to get to those drive sounds you love from the ME-5, but you may also find some more you love elsewhere too.
