i was perusing the duncan website a little while ago and noticed there was a little get-together of some of the ladies and gents on that forum and was wondering if anything like that had ever been attempted here. If not, why not?
obviously our intercontinental friends might have a bit harder time, but...

mike, I'll bet I'm the only one here with no real strings attached, and can go anywhere within reason, at nearly any time. The other half will come along, if we get to stop and shop for quilting fabrics and patterns. (That way, she/we can write off the trip expenses on her business. ;D) I doubt there are too many others here who can say the same. In the Pacific Northwest, we have mlrpa, tacobobbo, and ssstonelover that I know about, as well as yours truly. I dunno, might be kinda cool to sit at one place or another and jam for awile, no? You others can work out your own local arrangements, eh? sumgai

I'm usually in western PA/eastern OH. My daughter went to W&M and lives in the DC area (works in north Georgetown, used to live in Adams-Morgan), so I get down there at times (there are some nice guitar stores in/about Fredericksburg VA, where I often end up in J.Brian's Irish Brigade). I've threatened to drop in on sumgai when I'm in Redmond (we have a business unit there), but I haven't been out there for a couple of years now. There are other members around but I won't discuss them without their chiming in (privacy is). We could start by exchanging photos, here's mine; Let's be careful out there.

Back in the pre-internet day of BBS's (about 17 years ago) a bud of mine I were going to our Comicon . We were members of an anime' BBS who were having a get-together in the same hotel we were staying at. We decided to stop by said get-together. When they answered the door, we took one look and told them we had the wrong place (and slowly backed away). It had been a very civil and informed BBS; but the "get-together" was basically serious underage drinking/drugs with dozens of TV's showing anime' porn. I think we would have been the only people who were drinking age there (actually quite a few years past it).
We both decided right then that online communities are just that...and should remain that way. It became our policy to not mingle (unless you know them in meatspace already).
Not that I think a GN2 thing or anyone here would be that way....but policy is.

"I like to go down to the beach real early and throw 20 or 30 bottles with notes in them into the surf.
When I later see someone walking out to pick one up, I go stand directly behind them.
The notes all say "I'm standing right behind you.....""
