This is my first attempt at building a guitar, I decided on a tele style with the new Seymour Duncan P Rail pickups. This is the bare body, the main part of the body is bubinga wood with a brazillian cannela wood top. Here it is assembled with the neck, I used the stratocaster headstock style on the maple neck. 2nd view assembled to show color of body Completed pic, natural wood color with a clear satin finish I used the wiring diagram from the Seymour Duncan website for the P Rails with 1 tone and 1 volume switch and a 3 way LP style toggle pickup selector switch. The tone and volume pots are 500K push pull switches and has a 0.47 capacitor. With this combination I have the sounds of the P 90's, Humbuckers in series, Humbuckers in parallel, and the rail singles. Others may not think too much of it but I love it, it has some great sounds and plays great. Now I think I will try another style and pickup configuration pretty soon.

Everybody's talking P-rails, but you're the first here with the goods! Nice job, glad you like the sound.

Looks great! Hmmm, it must weigh a bit. I'm building a Tele with a set of P=Rail pickups although it has two volume controls and two tone controls like a Les Paul (which are also four push pull pots for coil selection) and a 5-way lever switch for bridge, bridge *- neck, bridge + neck, bridge * neck, and neck. the bodyI just have to do the internal shielding and wiring. P-Rail Switching SchemeI used alder for mine (the "chicken" of tone woods - goes well with just about everything).

I almost went with the 2 volume 2 tone and 5 way switch with mine but decided that maybe my wiring skills were not quite up to that yet and the SD website diagram had the configuration I wanted so I went with it and am glad I did, it was just what I was looking for. As far as the P Rails, I love them, there is such a range of sounds that can be gotten from them and each range sounds very good, I am sure glad I decided to go with them instead of my first choice of a Pearly Gates bridge and a SD SH1 "59 neck. I think my next build is going to be a tele with the pearly gates bridge the SD "59 neck and a strat texas special in the mid.
