Troops... I like all kinds of music ( sorry no rap or hip-hop ) but I have been playing alot of....brace yourself! Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass this past week. No words, all music. I find it quite soothing and I dare anyone to listen to [glow=red,2,300]Casino Royale [/glow]and be in a bad mood afterwards. Theres a cool fuzz guitar at the end for us guitar nuts. I find myself tapping my toes and humming along. Am I getting old?....maybe this is just cleansing my palate. Who know? Im not going to fight it, just enjoy. Anyone else a closet Herb junkie? btw...I like girls. ;D (fixored! Made the glow text a link to.......)

Dude, I LOVE Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass! I honestly thought I was the only fan left alive .... it's good to know there's at least one more.

Anybody who's into a mildly distorted tone should get to know, and appreciate, both woodwind and brass instruments. (Thrash metal players need not apply.) If you have access to a VG-8/88/99, you'll be amazed at how you can imitate almost any horn ever invented by mankind. And this isn't synth stuff, this is down-to-earth modify-the-guitar's-native-signal stuff. IOW, you get all the nuance of fretting, plucking and bending a string, with the tonal characteristics of a completely different instrument. Cascoding two or more of these gives you the ability to imitate, say, the Tower of Power in all their glory! ;D Short of the few hundred bucks for one of these (used, but the VG-99 is brand new, and listing at better than a kilobuck), you can substitute stomp boxes and get about half-way there. Combine that with a sustainer, like as in 4pete's thread, or my personal favorite, the eBow, and you've got a mind-blowing combination. This ain't your daddy's rock guitar! sumgai

Herb's music is some of the rare vinyl that we didn't mind Mom and dad playing when we were kids. A few of his albums are in my Mrs' vinyl collection as well.
Musical Diversity is.
