Hey There Nuts
I have recently aquired a Boss GT 8 multi effects unit. I was wondering about this "four cable method" I heard about.
I have a Marshall TSL60 with effects loop.
Question is what is the proper way to hook the GT8 to the Marshall using the four cable method ?
Also what are the benefits ? will it sound better ?
Thanks Guys

I hope you've found this information somehwere by now. I had to look it up as I have neither of these pieces and have never heard of the "4 cable method."
As I understand it you connect the guitar to the instrument input on the GT. The effect loop output from the GT goes to the input of the amp. The effect loop out from the amp goes to the effect loop return input on the GT. The output of the GT goes to the amp's loop return input.
This is supposed to allow you to bypass the preamp model on the GT, using the actual preamp in the amp in it's place, and using the GT as just an effects processor. Apparently the GT also allows you to determine where within it's internal effects chain to place the loop. In this way you might have a few effects (overdrive or wah for example) before the preamp, and a few (delay, chorus...) after. I can't tell you if it'll sound better. You'll have to try it and decide which you prefer.
