Happy New Year to all, both to those over the threshold and those yet to cross.
I have to stay inside since the automatic weapons fire is aboot to start here (in a couple of hours).

Yes, a happy 2009 to all. No weapons discharges expected here. Although an automatic weapons-sounding riff or two on the Ibanez with the gain set at WFO may be in order.

Yep, Happy New Year! I've lost track of the time difference (it must be the celebratory intake of akccclohol) but whenever it gets you, I hope it is a good 'un. I spent tonight helping a friend run a night club, despite having met my wife 12 years ago to the day. You know she's a keeper when she'll put up with that sort of crap! Do you reckon that means she'll let my buy another guitar?

Build one, and convince her that you're saving a ton of money by doing so. And it's easier to conceal the hit to the bank account when it's spread out over several months instead of all at once. ;D

Ooooooh, sneaky! Thing is, I'd either be after a Gretsch Country Club, or a Jerry Jones doubleneck with a 12 string and bass VI- neither an easy job. And still, I'm waiting for a rather hefty synthesizer purchase (in one lump on paypal) to arrive in the post. Still, your underhand tactics will not be forgotten! Thanks!

Every day is the start of a new year. No matter what the date, earth was in the same postition relative to the sun at some point in the not too distant past. The distinction between 2008 and 2009 is arbitrary and mostly meaningless.
It makes more sense for me to say "Happy New Year" on August 22nd, since that is the date I started my first revolution. Interestingly, I'm 33 1/3 years old today.
I've been wanting to say this all day long, but I didn't think it would be an appropriate response when speaking to customers. "You too" is much better. Nobody else mentioned it to me all day, so you guys get to hear it.

I remember when I had that one too. One third of a century and half way done (with a normal career). That depends on how you look at things ( astrophenomically speaking). Celestial and Classical Mechanics rule, except when n(o)-body can solve it. Remember, everything is either physics, religion, or marketing.

33 1/3 revolutions? You're an LP- a Long Player! But you're still not as old as I am.

Do tell. Hopefully it was an ARP2500 for a pittance. I spent my late teens trying to realize reliable exponential/log analog circuits to do tracking analog synth oscillators. I still have many samples of log/anti-log ICs. Now I just use a digital one that pretends to be analog (in the operator interface).

Hmm...being 33-1/3 years old and ARP synthesizers...both seem like something from New Years long past...
Either way, Happy New Years to you all, and sincere wishes that 2009 is several shades better then 2008.
Happy Trails

But where would I put the sofa?!
It's nothing as exiting as that unfortunately, just an E-MU Proteus 2000, and both the orchestral expansion Roms. It won't be for making 'synth music' as much as pretending I have a big studio full of instruments at my disposal.

In the U.S., firearm suppressers are regulated and licensed, and generally frowned upon.
In Finland (I believe) one is required to use one to avoid disturbing the neighbors.
I always thought that they should be used to avoid disturbing the police.
Go figure.
