Hey rod75, sorry for the tardy response. Exellent idear, bro. I've got a camera and I'll get right on it. Maybe get a more shreddy friend to take her for a proper spin I'll post right back here soon as it's done. Thanks for the request.

Well, better late than never. Here's a few songs played by my friend Dean. On Red House he uses the 'slantbucker' and on Riviera Paradise he uses the neck pickup. Seems like my friend spent as much time digging the neck pickup as the new slant sounds, so I'm glad I left it in the stock position. Sure is good to have this axe back, I didn't realize how great it sounded 'till I plugged it back in here. Dean liked it so much he went out and bought a MIM strat before he gave me mine back. The MIM's stock sounds are hotter and more midrangey and doesn't get the chime and shmack (We need more maddeningly undiscriptive words don't we?) that mine does, but still sounds like a strat.

I wonder if this shouldn't go over in the sound clips section.
The guitar sounds good, considering the youtubification.
Thanks for posting.

I agree with Ash...I loved the neck only tone.

Thanks you guys. I sort of wish he had 'flipped the switch aboot, sparky' a bit more since it was my wiring I wanted to show off. There are 13 possible pickup combinations with the two switches, but I think Dean just wanted to jam.
At first, my idea was to just add another coil down by the bridge one to make the 'slantbucker', but I wanted to keep the design neat and lean, for esthetics as well as a tighter sound without extra coils 'loading' on each other. So, I ditched the middle coil position which is inarguably an important ingredient in 'strat-ness' as I now realize.
The Coyote Dancer reconfiguration has an unmistakable quality of 'fender-ness', but not all of it is what folks would say is strat sound. A great combination that I and Dean like is the bridge and neck coil only in parallel or series, which are now RWRP to each other. It's like a telecaster in middle position, but more sweet and clear. My favorite sound is still the 'slantbucker' coils in parallel (Dean had 'em in series on Red House). It has a high-fi quality with lots of string sensitivity. For me, that makes pinch harmonics easy. Any way, thanks again for the props guys, and to all on Guitarnuts2 who helped me on this and other mods!

I've found that string bends going from the pole on one coil to the other translate better in parallel to what the amp wants. Cleaner, more separation , less cancellation when moving between offset poles. You can get that middle sound by mounting the slant to some wood instead of plastic. My Eddie-inspired Kramer Striker has the pup too far from the bridge and centered toward the bass side, difficult to hear the highs, and WAS mounted on a plastic ring (blasphemy). It got betta' ;D Nice work both y'all
