I have a 4x12 cab but it is 4ohms. I have a Crate Blue Voodoo Head but only have settings for 8 and a6 ohm cabs. Am I right asumming I can't use the 4 ohm cab.. If the speakers are not marked with the ohms on them is there a way for me to find out to rewire it for 8 ohms. It is one of the inexpensive Raven 4x12 cabs. I am just using it for practice. Thanks

Maybe.
How is it internally wired?
It can be made up of a number of possible speaker impedances. If all four speakers are the same, this is what's possible;
1. All speakers are 16 Ohms and all four are in parallel.
2. All speakers are 1 Ohms and all four are in series.
3. All speakers are 4 Ohms and all four are in series-parallel (two in parallel, in series with two in parallel).
Solutions;
1. All speakers are 16 Ohms. Put them in series-parallel (two in parallel, in series with two in parallel). You will get a 16 Ohm cabinet.
2. All speakers are 1 Ohms. You must abandon all hope and give up.
3. All speakers are 4 Ohms. Put all four in series. You will get a 16 Ohm cabinet.

Hope I explain this write. On the speakers on a pc of label it says RG412 / 16 ohm / 60W04 RG412 is the cab model I assume 16 ohm is speaker ohm. Supposed to be a 200 watt cab but net says 240 which I think the 60w04 is 4 60 watt speakers Right bottom I'll call speaker 1 left bottom speaker 2 top right speaker 3 top left speaker 4 speaker 1 each speaker has end clip to clip wire and two on top to clip speaker wire so there are 4 post for each one.
White wire from jack goes to speaker 1 to left side another from left side top to speaker 2 left side top another from speaker 2 left side to speaker 4 left side and from speaker 4 left side top to speaker 3 left side top this is for the white wire
Now black wire. From jack to speaker 4 right side from speaker 4 right side top to speaker 3 right side top from speaker 3 right side to speaker 1 right side and from speaker 1 right side top to speaker 2 right side top So all the white wires are hooked to the left speaker terminals and all the black run to the right speaker terminal. Hope this helps

bw, You have four each 16Ω speakers. As noted by Chris, you'll need to re-wire them such that Speakers 1 and 2 are in parallel, Speakers 3 and 4 are in parallel, and then wire those two combinations in series. This will make the cabinet into a 16Ω unit. In words, without a diagram.... Disconnect all wires. Now connect Speakers 1 and 2 in parallel - that's the white wire to both left terminals, and the black wire to both right terminals. Repeat this operation for Speakers 3 and 4. Next, connect a wire (any color) from Speaker 1's right terminal (the black wire) to Speaker 3's left terminal (the white wire). And finally, connect Speaker 1's left terminal (the white wire) to one of the jack's solder lugs, and Speaker 3's right terminal (the black wire) to the remaining solder lug on the jack. I suggest that you draw this out first, before you actually start disconnecting and reconnecting anything, and very much so before you start unsoldering and soldering. If you have push-on terminals on your wires, that'll make things easier. HTH sumgai

If I layed the diagram out right then there are no wires connecting speakers 2 and 4. I have push on terminals Before I do the change I'll take a picture of the cab wiring so if there is as need to put it back the way it was. Thanks

waiter, If I layed the diagram out right then there are no wires connecting speakers 2 and 4. That's correct, or almostly so. Speaker 2 is in parallel with Speaker 1, so whatever connects to Speaker 1 is also connected to Speaker 2 at the same time. Ditto for Speakers 3 and 4. I have push on terminals Before I do the change I'll take a picture of the cab wiring so if there is as need to put it back the way it was. Good plan! And good luck! HTH sumgai

Yes, please post pictures, both before (so we can see what you think that you are saying) and after the surgery (so we can see what we thought that we were saying).
When I try to read sentences like that sans punctuation that are longer than my attention span, I start to get..........Oh look, something shiny!.
Funny, I seem to have no trouble writing long (winded) sentences.....

Thanks was really easy I only had to eliminate one wire. Cab sounds nice. Not as brite sounding or trebly sounding as my 2x12. So it worked out nice. I will take some pictures when I get a chance. Got 2 of before I changed wiring. Didn't really have to change much from what the had. Took the wire off from speaker 2 to 4. The white wire from the jack was already hooked to #1 Took the black wire from the jack that was connected to speaker 4 right side and put in on speaker 3 right side and that was it. Thanks
