Hi, I have a set up of HSH with two tone controls with pull pots. 1 volume control and a five way switch. I am having trouble finding a diagram for this I would like it so that the bridge and neck humbuckers can switch between series and parallel via the two pull pots. The switch order would be bridge, bridge/middle, middle, middle/neck, neck I did find this I kinda get the feeling the negative goes to an earth maybe? And the positive would go to the tone control and then to the switch? The middle single coil has just a blue and a white wire coming from it. Not sure how this is going to work :S Hmmmm I would appreciate any advice on this. Or if anyone knows of a link to the correct diagram. Thanks

mrk- Hello and Welcome! I thought I had replied to this earlier, but I must have exited without posting. Now I have to try to remember what I said. First, do you mean that you want to be able to put the neck HB in series with the selection from the 5-way switch, and the same for the bridge HB? Or do you mean that you want the Bridge HB and Neck HB to be in series or parallel with each other? The "-" wires do go to ground, usually to the back casing of the volume pot. Where the "+" wire(s) go depends on your answer to the question above. The diagram you posted is from our member wolf's site. It is a sub-module, to be incorporated into a larger scheme. This gives 2 HBs in series or parallel. If what you want is your N +B and N*B, this will get you there, but it needs to be incorporated into the rest of your wiring scheme. And, it needs to do so in a way that "overrides" whatever is selected by the 5-way switch. You would only need one push/pull for this scheme. If you want to be able to switch either the neck HB, or the bridge HB, or both, in series with whatever selection is made on the 5-way switch, that could be done using both push/pull switches (I think . . .) But that's another animal entirely, or a horse of a different color, or sumphin'.

Hello mrk79uk, I'd say that diagram is a correct diagram --- I drew it. ;D As far as the '+' and '-' connections, just pay attention to the ones going to the output. But even before you start with that, the important thing is do your humbuckers have 4 wires coming out of them? If they do, what company manufactured them? If they only have 2 wires, you'll have to do more work even before you can start wiring series / parallel switches.

Well a massive thank you to you wolf for your guide on 1728.com that a was a really helpful read and I learnt a lot from that. Sorry I didnt state my manufacturer of my pickups. The HB's are Seymour Duncans PG's so the diagram will work perfectly for me. Both my tone control pots have pull switches so what I wanted (open to a better setup if there is one) is to be able to switch each humbucker to single or parallel with the pot switch. The 5 way selector would work in a standard strat syle bridge, bridge/middle, middle, middle/neck, neck. I do not require to be able to have both Neck and Bridge pickups on at the same time. So with the selector switch in neck position and the appropiate pot switch down the HB works in parallel. Pull the pot switch up and it will make that HB work in series. Same goes for the wiring and behaviour of the bridge pickup. Does this make sense? Sorry I am so very new to this, but enjoying the learning curve

Heres my guess Excuse the dodgey diagram done in paint I am not at my own PC atm Is this diagram correct? I am wondering how to get a tone control from the single coil? I am also wondering if the blue or the white is the postive from the sc pu. Theres only two wires on this and its the standard westone pu.

Okay, I made my own drawing (didn't add in the wires yet.) I was just wondering which of the "pots" are the volume and tone?

I based my drawing on www.seymourduncan.com/support/wiring-diagrams/schematics.php?schematic=3lil_hum_1v_2t_5wThe tone is the bottom and middle pot and the volume is the top pot. I have the feeling it might work, I kinda wired one pickup like this turned it on and although i have no strings on it yet it sounded like its working. still I am unsure what to do with the middle single coil. Just a blue and a white wire.http://www.westone.info/wiring/spectrum3/index.html White is + ? I might wire it so that the two HB's are both on the same tone control as they are never on at the same time, and the middle sc gets its own independant tone control.
