I have done the bulb limiter test on two amps and I just checking that this test is also applicable on a deluxe 5E3 build. Any builders here have experience with a bulb limiter test.

I am proceeding with the test and as you may know this amp has a rectifier tube. The test literature i have calls for the test to be done without tubes. I have done this and the bulb glows dull and the pilot light works....no smoke... with the mains switch on. Proceeding onto the standby switch I still get the dull glow on the bulb but no flash on the bulb which would indicate that the caps are charging. I can only assume that the rectifier has to be in the circuit, without the other tubes , in order to get the caps charged and proceed with the test. Anybody out there have experience with bulb limiter tests on Rectifier tube based amps ??

Ok it works great. the test does require the rectifier to be in ( DUH!!! ), how else would the caps get power. I am learning. 5E3 sounds super.... look out Neil Young.
