What's happening axemen?? I'm doing some upgrades on my SG standard. New pups, new brigde and tail piece. (Tone pros). I've had a bunch of pup changes, so the volume pots have a minor mountain of solder on them. It should have been removed after each pup change, but I had three different techs do the work. Anyway, the tech I have now said it's going to take to much heat to remove the solder and that it could damage the pots. So I'm having new ones installed free of charge. I heard CTS pots are really good pots. My tech has the the factory pots (WD) that he claims are as good as the CTS. I like the CTS because they have a tight turn. I want vintage tone. and most of the custom shop guitars I have played, have those pots. There's got to be difference in quality. Any comments would be appreciated. KEEP ON ROCKING,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

CTS pots are fine, I don't know whether the WDs are as good or not. Better pots get you more consistent operation over a longer time, probably with closer tolerances as well. But there's no "vintage tone" to be had in a pot. It either works properly or it doesn't.
Better quality can be had from OEM electronics parts suppliers, and at cheaper prices, than from guitar suppliers. See our "Links Page-sort of" under refererence articles, for a list of link to these suppliers.
