Here's the pedalboard project in final stages. Upper shelf is slotted for cable access, raised to allow pedal stomping without snagging the lower row, fitted with velcro for easy removal/access. Cables for 2 guitar inputs plus one output are wired in place, ready for the pedal chain. Small red LED power light wired into mains socket. Finished pedal board, powered up with 9v daisy chain. includes A/B + X/Y bypass box to allow 2 guitar input to be routed to tuner or into pedal chain. Simple foot switch bypasses amp between songs to allow for silent retune. features a couple of home build pedals - red llama fuzz/overdrive modified for bass frequencies, and a classic dyna comp compresser/sustainer built from scratch including hand-etched pcb. Bassballs pedal has been attacked over the weekend with hammer, vice and hacksaw to remove the cheese wedge shape and slim it down so the pedal + cabe access is in line with the others on the board. Also replaced silly EH DC input plug with a conventional 9V dc power jack socket.

Eric-
That's terrific, much better than most of the commercial pedalboards I've seen.
I currently have mine in a soft-sided case, and need something more substantial, so you've inspired me to look into building one.
+1, sir!

TYVM! I saw the ridiculous prices charged for comemrcial boards that were just a wooden box of ply or chipboard with no routing for power or in/out cabling, and took a leaf out of the plastic moulded Boss unit for a fraction of the cost, featuring built in power and i/o sockets, which all seemed eminently sensible. Now all I need is a good lid to cover and protect it during transit to gigs.

Quick question, what material is the white power-strip looking thing? I was looking at building a pedal board, because I'm too cheap to buy a "professional" one.
Quick Edit: Very nice pedal board. I am envious of your ingenuity.

first - thanks! Second - the strip at the top is a section of white pvc electrical conduit, square cross section, screwed to the MDF base. (I've sprayed the sides black to match the board but I left the top white as I knew I'd be drilling and fixing stuff into it). Into that I drilled the holes to fix the 2 input and one output jacks and the 9v DC power jack. It houses the connecting wires to keep it all tidy.

I don't know if you mean fashioning one of your own or not. Nor do I know the dimensions. But as a thumb-in-the-wind guess, you might find a used flight case for a small mixer or synth that would fit it. Then you wouldn't have any worries with latches or hinges, just drop the whole shebang in a case.

good idea, maybe a good camera kit or video cam flight case would come in the right dimensions if I can find one cheap. Failing that, I've got some more mdf in the shed I can knock up a box to the right dims and add a few clips.
