Thank you and it definitely has been quite pleasant day. My inactivity seems to continue despite all the effort to improve the situation... Sometimes I drop by to check out recent posts, but that's it. It really warms my heart that there are some who still remember and old nut! I seriously should post, cos I'm soon finishing two projects... We'll see! happy days to all you too Markku edit: oh my god it's been over four years since I registered... time indeed goes fast...

Laika and the Cosmonauts do rule, one of my favorites as well.
I thought I heard that they had broken up, though.

newey, Not so much 'broken up' as retired. After 20 years together with the same lineup as when they started, I'd guess they've earned the right to call it a day. Some of the former members are doing solo projects. I can't access the site www.laikaandthecosmonauts.com, but the Wayback Machine has all their pages up until Jan 08: Mr. Peabody's WayBack MachineAnd their Myspace page is more-or-less current (as of this writing, one of them logged in just a few days ago): Rupert Murdock's Gang of BillionsHey DarK, what's the latest news on these guys, over there in Helsinki? sumgai

Sumgai Yes, we started celebrating birthdays when we didn't find hunting penguins fun anymore in the turn of the millenium. I've heard nothing about Laika since their farewell tour that ended in late 2008... :S It had some media coverage in that time. So maybe they really quit once and for all, but as you said, after 20 years it is an acceptable choice (maybe). I think you would like to check out(if you haven't) such old finnish rautalanka-acts as The Esquires and The Sounds too if you like Laika. In some way the "new wave" of finnish rautalanka is being guided by band called Viikate (The Scythe) that combines elements from traditional rautalanka like The Shadows and like with melancholic finnish heavy metal... They're quite popular right now. There will be some language issues I guess, because most (if not all) songs are in finnish... DarK

Ya, this makes it really difficult to tell when the song is Finnish'd (over).
