Boss CE-5 mid-late 90's I was at a Jam session earlier today. I hit the foot switch and... tone change.. nothing more. The filter and level pots worked, but i couldn't get anything out of the speed and depth. Me thinking on my feet, I punched it a few times and it started working again. Mostly. It didn't sound right. not near as much 'volume' in the chours as it normally did. I have reason to believe that there are a few different versions of the CE-5's out there, but I may be wrong. does anyone have any schematics of ones from this era kicking around? I'm going to have to pull it apart and attack it with a multimeter soon as i get some time to see what's going on with it. hopefully it's as simple as a dented cap. I don't think its any broken wires as a 'swift kick' made it do its thing. And thats my favorite pedal too.

Marty, There seems to be 2 version of this pedal. I am not sure which version you have but you can download the manual for one of them at www.eserviceinfo.com/downloadsm/41772/Boss_CE5T.htmlFirst thing that I would suspect is not broken wires, but ones that are just a bit loose. See as whacking it around a bit got it back, at least partially. That being said, it may very well be an electrolytic that has gone bad. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but as I don't have the pedal in front of me, it a bit hard to make an assessment. HTH Tyler
