Clone or real, I don't believe the words "affordable" and "Hiwatt" can be used in the same sentence. What do you mean by "affordable"? Maybe the actual Hiwatts are cheaper in the EU, I don't know. They're a bit pricey here in the USA. Reeves amplification makes Hiwatt clones. Their heads are perhaps a few hundred less than an actual Hiwatt would cost you- but a Groove Tubes-equipped 50 watt head will still set you back about $1800 (USD). In the EU, these would probably be more, too, as they're US-made. www.reevesamps.com/super78.htmBut I'm pretty sure that's not what you meant by affordable! I don't have any experience with these, nor do I with an actual Hiwatt, so I can't vouch for their claims. EDIT: Another option would be to have Ceriatone build you up one of their kits, assuming you're not into building it yourself. They make a kit called the "Hey What 504" which is an exact clone of the classic HW 504. to get one built out by them runs $780 USD, less if you don't want the head cabinet. Again, no experience so I can't vouch for their service, etc. www.ceriatone.com/productSubPages/HeyWhat504/HeyWhat504Cabinet.htm

A new DR-103 costs around 2000 Euros, that would be 3000 USD. I think that explains everything.
Thanks for the Ceratone link! If I can keep this job that would be my next birthday present.
