Hello,
I'm looking to buy a new amp, but I'm not sure what to buy. I've played various amps, including Vox AC30 and Fender Deluxe Reverb (and other blackface models) and have concluded that I want something like that. I want something that is sort of a cross between an AC30 and a Deluxe Reverb but I can't figure out what qualifies as this. I like the crisp, clean Deluxe Reverb tone and the AC30 crunchy, warm drive tone. My budget is somewhat limited, preferably something around $700-$800.
Thanks.

Other than actually getting those amps, or some wizzo digi-modeled imitation, how about checking out a Peavey Classic 30, Delta blues (similar but with 15"speaker), or best of all, Classic 50? These amps use the same EL84 tubes as the Vox, and have a tonal vibe inspired by Fender but at a lower price point. They have been around for a decade or so, so plenty available old and new.

I have and would buy the Vox Night Train. It has the AC30 sound and can back off and give you a very clear clean sound. This may be the best of both worlds and meet your needs.
