I am brand spanking new to this thread, but a veteran of 50 years of trying to play the guitar, both acoustic and electric, on stage and around the house with friends and family. My newness led me to peruse the many posts on "Amps" until I ran out of time, and by the way I am tired... , so I will ask this question: Has anyone posted anything on the TECH 21 60 Watt Amp made in NYC? I have owned one for about 6 years now, and play it constantly! It has quickly replaced a Fender Twin (I think its a '65 model), and a Line 6 Spyder 212 in almost all gigs, rehearsals, and just plucking strings around the fireplace...oops, thats the couch burning as we don't have a fireplace. These little beasts are amazing! I can get almost every amp sound I have ever played out of the little monster! Now, it isn't for shred metal, but with all other avenues, and the blues which I play mostly is where it really shines! Anyone else with experience with this great, IMHO, little Amp? Would love to hear from you about it. Thanks, Willie D. Bluesman aka Bill

Cam-
Hello and Welcome! No personal experience with this amp, although I've been eying one of their "Power Engines", the powered speaker cab, for a while.

I too am looking at the Power Engine. I do not know how well it will play with other amps...lol. (doesn't play well with others ya know). It does sound unbelieveable when combimed with the Tech 21 60 Watt amp. I am, told the 30 watt amp was killer, but didn't have the 2 channel capability, so I chose the slightly bigger (and heavier) 60. The "tube-like" sound is perfect to my ear, it doesn't sound solid state at all to my ear, and I have had a lot of experience with both solids and tubes. Let us know how the Power Engine works with any other equipment. Thanks for the reply, Camshot

I've had a Trademark 60 for about 9 years and agree about what a great and versatile amp it is. Also agree that it's definitely not for shredding, but you can still get some decent classic rock distortion going. The built-in Acutronics reverb is nice as well. I've had great luck dialing in super-tasty and pristine SRV-like clean tones with a Strat, as well as spot-on Jimmy Page-ish crunch (a'la Moby Dick) with a Les Paul. Being a solid-state amp, it's also light as a feather, so I imagine it makes gigging a breeeze, though I've never used mine outside the house. The only nit I have with it is that, for EVH "brown sound" stuff and beyond it doesn't quite have the girth you expect. It comes close for sure, but I always feel there's a bit of "depth" or "chunk" lacking. Those who really enjoy sinking their teeth into true tube distortion or who plan on playing more Metallica and Maiden than say, Gary Moore and Brian May, will probably want to go with a tube amp. But if you want a lightweight, full-featured, versatile as heck amp for blues to heavy rock, the Trademark 60 is perfect. Tech-21 customer service is also excellent. I've emailed them about a couple of random things over the years and they always reply promptly and with exactly the help I need.
