For my 15th birthday my grandma bought me a Takamine G series acoustic. I never really touched it until about three years later and started playing acoustic almost exclusively. Recently, while at my grandmas house i pulled out one of my grandpas old no name 50 dollar guitars and fooled around for a bit. The tone was insane. All of his old no names have excellent tone. Like that old bluesy 'dead' sounding tone. Dont get me wrong, i love my tak. But its sounds trebely in comparison. Grandpas seem deeper and 'dead' and almost like a 'chunky' sound. Why is that? any way to change the tone of my tak?

Strings could be a large part of the difference. Presumably, Grandpa's old ones had older, deader strings.
