Hi I am curious on the PV CS-800 when the main power switch is off but the amp is still plugged in does it still have some power going to speakers?? I ask because I had the amp off for a few hours and I have a fan close by and when I switched the fan from high the speakers went snap. I did it a couple times and it did the same thing each time. should I unplug the amp when not in use??

there is a slight possibilty that either the wall socket or the amp is wired incorrectly try this at a different socket and see if you get the same result. but i would still plug it out to be sure. its not like you need to have it plugged in unless your playing

spudler, ts's answer is correct from a safety standpoint, so a +1 to him. (You two will learn as we go on that I'm a big fan of safety first!) However, the definitive test is quite simple - merely unplug the amp from the wall, and start/stop your fan..... does the same popping sound come out of the speaker(s) now? If yes, then you know it's nothing more than a large magnetic field collapsing (which happens every time a simple motor like this is started up), thus causing a "spike" of electrical noise. This can happen anytime when said motor is within several feet/yards(!) of a large-enough magnet, such as your speaker(s). If the snapping sound is no longer evident after unplugging the amp, then I would persue one of two courses: either do as ts suggests and check out the wall sockets for proper wiring (4 bucks at Home Depot, and I think it's also available at Radio Shack), or else have the amp checked out by a qualified technician. In fact, it never hurts to do both. (Although the tech's diagnosis might not be free, but that's a matter of the free market - you can pick whomever you wish, and I'm pretty certain that there'll be someone nearby that does free diagnostics. I know because I did it for years, way back when. HTH sumgai
