I just bought a modded Fender Champ 600 (should be on my doorstep today). I wanted to build an attenuator/L-pad box to turn the volume down without losing drive or tone. I've researched quite a few designs and diagrams, but it seems they all lose tone and/or drive when the output is cut. Is there a way around this?

WOW! This little baby gets pretty loud! 1 mod on the list of things left to do to this beauty is change the 6" speaker or build a bigger cabinet.
I don't know if I really need the attenuator, but it will be fun to see what kind of tones I can get.
EDIT: Disregard! - I'm in love with this thing and while it is loud enough to deafen me, we get along just fine at low levels. Now that I've spent most of the evening (boy it's getting late) with her watching Chet Atkins, she reminds me of my first hand-soldered Fender mini amp and THIS is pretty much what I wanted it to be!
