Has anyone tried mixing the coils on two humbuckers so that you get the bridge outer coil into the neck outer coil, or the inner coils in series? GMArts has a cool idea with Tap links and Series OoP Humbucker www.gmarts.org/index.php?go=236#combonear the bottom...

Christo - You can do that and those combos do sound different to each other.
One only thing to note, if it is of concern, is humcancelling. If you mix two similar coils of two similar pickups, in terms of magnet orientation etc, the result is not humcancelling. So in this case, you can put both screw coils say, towarsd the neck, then you always get a screw and a slug coil, or more sepcifically, a north and a south coil. Another trick is to reverse magnet directions and swap coil directions, which I do to get a hum-cancelling combo of two screw coils.
