Hello, I've been following guitarnuts telecaster shielding guide but I just want to confirm that at least one group loop is unavoidable before proceeding.
My MIM tele's previous wiring had the neg side of its bridge PU connected to an eyelet which is held to the bridge plate. A second wire comes from this eyelet to one of the pots.
The problem is the pickup screws - they make connection with the bridge plate and with the PU (since the bottom of my tex special PU, where the screws go in, is copper).
So if I was a static charge sitting on the bridge plate, I could get to ground via 2 paths: 1) through the eyelet and 2) through the bridge screws, pickup 'plate', then to the neg. wire on the pickup (which is connected to the pickup plate).
Solution? Should I A) leave the ground loop? Or B) not use the eyelet?
Prob with A) is obvious, prob w/ b is that I'm relying on those PU screws to make good connection.... since the PU cavity and bridge plate will be grounded only via the screws.... doesn't seem very good to me..
