seymore duncan emg dimarzio?????????

Ok ........this is gunna be a monster(I think)! I finished the paint and polish on my jackson dinky mod now I want to wire it up-........This will be my 1st mod. that I've ever done .........so I want all your advice............The "Dinky" has routing for two single coils and 1 HB...........originally had a 5-way and 1 vol. and 1 tone.........I now have it set up with ..dimarzio paf pro HB in the bridge....EMG HZ S-3 stacked HB in the middle......and finally a Seymore Duncan hot rails HB in the neck..........the neck and mid pups allow me to get HB's in the neck and mid , without buying a router:)

In the control cavity I installed self adhesive copper shielding...I also did the cover .........I haven't lined the pup routes, I'm not sure if i have to or should.......I also installed (for the ashtetics) ----gold metal pup rings for the HB and the 2 SC's ......Im not sure if I should ground them or how to do it (if its necessary)?
(looks Cheesy but I want to pull it off)
Besides the above I also have A 4 pole 5-position switch that I want to use to split some of the HB'S (most likely..... split the bridge pup and the neck pup.

I also have a 500K-blend/balance pot to blend the neck and mid output...

A mini push on/on taper pole 500k audio pot. to split the mid pup.

And I have a mini 500k pot for tone .(which I'm not sure what cap to use with it )-----I have seen a diagram for using two caps. for "star wiring"? ....... Is this something to consider?


What I am in desperate need of is instructions on how to wire it... in laymans terms...pictures help

I want to have my 5-way = 1. bridge humbucker
2. bridge coil tap+ middleHB
3. neck+ bridge HBs
4. neck coil tap+middle HB
5. neck HB
then with the on/on pot.
switch pressed it would be 1.bridge HB
2.bridge coil tap+mid coil
tap
3. neck and bridge HB
4. neck coil tap+ mid coil
tap
5. neck HB

and with the blend pot .
I wonder if it can be wired to be able to control the blending of the neck and mid pups in thier HB state........if not ---------i won't drill a hole for it unless anyone knows of a useful way to incorporate it................thanks for all your help in advance..

What a coincidence!! I am also in the process of rebuilding a Jackson. I have an older Professional series with 3 humbuckers...1 volume and 1 tone control and a five position switch... I will be ordering all my new parts through Carvin except maybe the pick ups... I play in a metal band so I really need a heavy sounding fat pick up...I have Duncans on my other Jackson and they sound incredible but I was thinking about DiMarzios on this one.
My question to you is why are you using 3 different pick ups? Wont it be harder to wire if they use different gauge wire or different wire like copper or something else?
Let me know how that works. I am in the process of making a couple of other custom guitars and would like know how it turns out... GOOD LUCK

to your question above.........I finally got it done ....it all worked out good except I deviated from the original diagram that I was using from guitarelectronics.com...All the pick-ups work good together ........I mainly just wanted to be able to compare them to each other.......the hpt rails is real bright in the neck the emg stack single coil is a lil muddier and the dimarzio HB is a nice compliment to the mix with the splitting of the coils and such.......... good luck with your project ....... mine was derived from reading these boards and a cpl other boards out there..............from the start I would say I prolly spent around 60 to 70 hrs over a 9 week period .........removed all old finish ..........new paint (2X's) put a swirl finish on it .made my own logo for the neck all new gold hardware and new pups and components.........whew . finally its done and time to play ;D........ Ill post pix in the future

another reason i wanted to try it is because I've never heard of it done before.................this guitar sounds alot better than I expected it to........so many options with it........almost endless compared to stock set-up.

Great job!!! I have a question about the paint. What kind did you use and what did you use as a finish???
I tried a cheap flat black and polyurethane but it sucked hella bad! Gimme the goods on primers and paints and finishers if ya don't mind... Peace Bro
