I just made a find-a SS Kustom 250 at a thrift store. Now, I didn't expect too much for a donated item, and when I got it home it proved as such. When hooked up, it lets a little hum through to the speakers, but no guitar. At all. It doesn't even hum when a cable is plugged in. So that tells me that there is a problem in the pre-amp somewhere. So, to the point, does anyone have or know where I can get a free (legible) schematic? After some major google-ing I have turned up a bunch of schems for 8-10 clams and one I couldn't read, but none usable. This one is from the era when they still glued the schematic to the inside case, but there is only glue residue there. Can anyone help please?

Ok...after some more research, this is a Kustom K250-1 bass amp. I spent some time under the hood tonight, and found this... [/IMG][/URL] Uploaded with ImageShack.usSorry about the link, but I was having too much trouble with cropping the picture...turns out you can't do it on imageshack (I think). Anyways, I reconnected that wire, and all of a sudden I am rockin'! Still messing with the amp, and it is very bright (duh, it is a bass amp) but extremely clear. Very nice sound, it really brings out my effects.

oops... You got me while I was posting-I really don't like imageshack. Photobucket wasn't working at all for me, they changed the way they do things, and I have been trying to learn the new image hosting and it is not good unless you pay for it, apparently. Sorry C1!

jcgss77-
I tried several different ways to post your image from imageshack so that it would display, and I got it to work, but the photo is HUGE!
I didn't post it because it blew off the screen and was very grainy as it was so enlarged. I don't know why this is happening unless you had some parameter set up incorrectly when uploading the photo.
I also don't know why you're having trouble with photobucket. While they have changed their interface recently, it's moderately intuitive and I find it pretty easy to use.

D'oh!!!
Seems like I just have the brain of a dinosaur. I will give it another attempt though.
As far as the way huge image, yeah, I tried a lot of different things, and I just need to downsize it a lot. The camera I use is 7megapixel and seems that that has a lot to do with it.
I will post some gutshots too for any of the curious. There are some old transistors in there that are pretty neat, and I personally would love to hear of anyone having any experiences with an old-school Kustom amp.

FYI: You can edit the standard img tag on the board to re-size an image that would normally be too big to fit...or would just be rude to post in its normal size. Just do this: [img width=PX Size height=PX Size] For example, this image was originally 1600 x 1200. But by editing the tag like this: [img width=400 height=300 src=" ...it fits. So, for the larger then life size image referred to above: img526.imageshack.us/img526/2466/1000272lu.jpg"] HTC1

Many thanks, I appreciate the tips. There is one more development with the amp. Here is a pic I found of the amp online(I can't take a picture at the moment): It is a 2 channel, each with 2 inputs, no channel switch. Channel 1 works fantastic. Channel 2, bottom input, works fine. However, when I plugged into the top input of Channel 2, here is what happened: Volume pot works in conjunction with the Bass pot to control the volume. The Bass pot also adjusts Bass. The rest of the pots work fine. Anyone have an idea of what this is while I wait until I can get the amp apart again?

i LOVE the look of those old kustom amps Oh yeah. I definitely dig the padding. I wonder how they thought to put it on though? The only prob is mine didn't come with it, the wood cabinet was covered with that cheap carpeting, so I am going to have to hunt down a case. If anyone can hook a brotha' up, I would appreciate it. There is one for sale on evilBay for over 50 smackers...
