Hey, I would like to preform the T-Riffic Tele mod on my MIM telecaster. On the mod page, , it says that the switch you will need is a Yamaha 5-position, 4-pole switch , and that these are availible at stewmac.com as item number 4650. Well it seems that stewmac has changed this. Number 4650 at stewmac is a different switch now, its called the Super switch, www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics,_pickups/Components:_Switches_and_knobs/Super_Switch.html Will this switch still work for the mod? Even if its the right one, would it fit inside the guitar? Thanks, I would have emailed this to John, but I couldn't find his email address.

The only problem you may face is the lugs on this switch may come in contact with the shielding of your guitar, if you have done the QTBC's mod.--- --- You can either bend the lower 3 lugs or remove about 3/16" of the cavity below the switch itself. I have done both of these operations on two guit's. There will be no contact or interfearance with the bottom of the switch with the body cavity.--- --- Take your time and you should have no problems at all.--- ---

I would drill it out, but I don't have one, or know anyone who has a drill like that.
I have a regular drill though, one of the ones you put different sized bits in. Could I buy a bit that will work with my current drill? to do the large hole drilling with? Thanks.

Entirely possible, but take your time and measure, measure, measure. The width of the switch plus 1/8" on either side of the switch. The proposed depth of the switch needs to be taken into consideration when doing this mod. Find the center of the switch and drill either side out, then angle your drill at 45*-50* towards the center from either side and drill out the remaining material. Recheck the fit and at this point your plate with switch installed should fit. If not, don't force the issue, just nibble a little more material from the cavity. I was able to do this in 2 tries and was still able to shield the channel and miss the lugs of the switch by a fraction. Never being satisfied as my wife says...............thought you'd get some MUD on me-an-my-o-lady did'nt you. ---;D--- Well She says I am obsessive and compulsive in my repair jobs and modifications for others. I do to much!!! I angled the new deeper channel about an1/8" from the top. A little more is a lot more than a little less, if you fallow me.--NO-- I do it right and if it needs a new capicitor or a pot, I put it in(She has a slight say in the amount I spend though)which is good or all my repairs would never need another mod. Thank GOD for her fella's she kinda keeps me in modification-check.--- --- Please remember to measure twice and then cut or drill, every time you do either of these operations and you can't go wrong.--- ---
