I recently pickup the Band-in-a-box software. An excellent way to make some really good backing tracks. Beware, though, there's a fairly steep learning curve.

I'm a huge fan of Band in my Pocket Cds. They really helped me learn what it meant to play lead in the key of song. Tunes are long, like playing with a jam band, and just a lot of fun.
I like the midi tab . com site, just wish I could get them to play through my stero.

Hello! This is a great way to learn songs and write down the lyrics verbatim. Back in the day of vinyl 45's (yes, the scratchy discs) and the 8- track tape eaters, our rock group was lucky to have a Wurlitzer Juke Box. Our lead singers Dad bought it for pennies per pound and rigged it to play without coin. We would repeat play and pick out the lyrics of the 45's and then play along after intent listening to each guitar/organ part and backup vocals.Needless to say, we wore out the vinyl grooves on many records. We would always have the newest Top 40 hits worked out for the next gig.We never hurt for bookings since our fans new we would have their Fav present rock song worked out. Ahhh the 60's were Heaven and cheap. Peace.... Rory
