Whenever I plug my guitar in, there is always hum but when I touch my hand to the strings or bridge most of it goes away. Is there a problem with the grounding on my guitar or what? and if so how do I fix it? I have a Mex. telecaster which I've had for two years.

darkstar, this is completely normal. when you touch the strings you are grounding yourself and preventing yourself from radiating electricity to your pickups (which causes hum). i would leave it this way... unless you WANT the hum.

Most of the so-called string noise is caused by poor home grounding. (i.e. the electrical sockets in your home is not grounded properly).. check it first.

Yeah I think I'll try shielding my guitar. Just gotta get some copper tape or shielding paint.

Remove all the ground loops too. One of my guitars did that until I removed them and star grounded.
