Now how would one incorperate a level pot to this??? Would it be wired to a pot like a tone control? volume control?? Both??? Or am l gonna need something else?

This is a DP6T rotary, and from the LEDs i'd say its active but switching to schottky (LVD) diodes and dropping the LEDs to add a few more diode combinations would this work passively???

Probably work better active with some significant gain before hand.
To vary the amount of clipping either vary the gain at that stage, put a normal volume control before this, or put a variable resistor in series with that wire to the PCB.

Ok thanks ash, would adding this to a booster circuit like the electra distortion l posted before do the trick?

Any kind of booster before it will work.
My challenge to you is to use less diodes to accomplish the same results. Right now you've got a lot of redundancy.
