Hi to all, Just found your board. Seems like a great resource. I have a Squier strat (3 SCs and 5 way sw)and would like to experiment. What wiring mods would you suggest to get a more full tone for metal. I want to also keep the "traditional" strat sound. No budget for new pickups, so I thought wiring mods might give me what I want. Any and all help appreciated. TIA

ptrpilot I'd say the fullest sound and highest output option would be Middle & Bridge in series. Look for any modification that will give you that arrangement.

Wolf, Thnx for the suggestion. Can you recommend a site or specific instructions? Maybe "quieting the beast" and "Strat lovers Strat" mods? I have no experience with wiring, etc. but feel I can follow detailed directions.

ptrpilotI believe the Quieting The Beast modification is done to reduce hum and to prevent possible electrical shock hazards. It will not change your guitar sound. The Strat Lover's Strat modification will give you new sounds. Also, the modification on my website www.1728.com/guitar2.htm will give you even more sounds, but it does change the appearance of your guitar.
