As mentioned in another thread, I'm re-doing my pedal board with a Modtone Power Plant instead of the Godlyke I've been using for a few years. There's seven DC outlets on the Modtone, but I have 10 pedals, meaning I have to dasiy chain four effects. So I have my tuner, two drives and my noise gate coming off one of the higher MA outlets on the Modtone. At first I had the outlet going into a Korg Pitchblack, and 3 effects going from the 'power out' of the daisy chain.
Somebody asked me - why didn't I just daisy chain four effects off the Modtone outlet rather than off the Pitch Black? - making me wonder whether there was any difference. Does any body know if there's any filtering or anything on the Pitchblack power output jack? Does it make any difference whether I go into the Pitchblack and then daisy chain three pedals from the Pitchblack's power out, or whether I just daisy chain all four pedals straight from the Modtone output?
I tried the second method and didn't notice any obvious difference, except that it uses up one more plug of my overly long daisy chain, and leaves the power output on the Pitchblack free for testing pedals. I've read that the power output on the pitchblack is just wired in parallel with the input, but I tried powering the Pitchblack using just the power output as an input, and it doesn't work, suggesting that's not quite the case.
Much ado about nothing I realise, but these are the kinds of irrelevant conundrums that keep me awake at night.
