The bass half of my emg active p's no longer sends a signal. The unit is sealed. Any ideas on a fix, or is replacement the only choice? Could they be replace with passives and still work on an active system? Thanks!

Just a personal opinion here.
While mixing active and passive systems is -possible,- it will cost you twice as much as just fixing the active or going all passive. It's a pain.
If they're the EMG quik-connect type, check the contacts on the plugs.

Thanks for the replies! These are split pickups on a 4 string bass. It's the pickup under the E and A strings that is not working. As the other half works, and the bridge pickup works, I presume the battery is OK. I don't see any problems in the wiring, so I think the trouble must be inside the pickup itself. Any other ideas?

Well, you should be able to get a replacement for them at no charge. EMG is really good about that. I think they guarantee their stuff for life. While mixing active and passive systems is -possible,- it will cost you twice as much as just fixing the active or going all passive. It's a pain. How do you reckon that? If they're the EMG quik-connect type, check the contacts on the plugs. Optimally and hopefully. Chesh
