My Squier Affinity Telecaster after all mods

May I intruduce my Affinity Squier to you?

This is my 2010 Affinity Tele I bought second-hand half a year ago.
It had already a Fender decal on the headstock when it arrived.
Sorry for that.

It was a nice player from the beginning, but also a good basis for mods.

Especially I love the maple neck, it's the best I've ever played.
Tuners and pots are OK as well. And I really like the tone of the stock ceramic pups.

I was disappointed when I put in a Fender neck PU instead. Sounded muddy and weak.

I used that one as a third pup in the middle with a 17-tone wiring.
(see at the wiring and scheme section)

All the visual and cosmetic mods are the following ones:

- 3-ply pickguard
- two roller string trees
- chrome jack-plate
- Fender strap, straplocks and switchtip
- better bridge saddles
- Schaller chrome hat knobs (which are beautiful IMO)

Very pretty guitar...and since I have a thing for red guitars with maple necks...

So, we know what's in it...but what does it sound like? Got samples?

The 'fender' decal is a bit of a no-no, that could easily mislead someone in the future. But I am with you on a good squier's neck and body if you find a good one, or high end...be proud of the things I say. My tele was a modded 25th anniversary squier and a fine guitar.

The modified Mike Richardson scheme is a winner too, my MRmod start version has 30+ combinations (4 coils in it)...well done

I don`t want to mislead anyone, not now, and not in the future.
I'm happy with my Squier and won't sell her anyway.



As already written before, the decal was there when I bought the guitar. I've got no experience in creating decals, so I'll leave it as it is now.

There's a sound file with twelve tones, when the oop switching hadn't been installed yet.

Please don't wonder what I am playing there. It's just a sketch of an intro for a new song for the girls of my students band at school. Not finished yet, just an idea.

I just played the same stuff 12 times according to the 12 switching positions the guitar had at that time, without changing anything else with the amp or the guitar. I used my Vox VT40+ with gain in mid position and a bit of reverb.

The twelve parts come up as follows:

1. bridge
2. bridge and neck in parallel (the 3 original Tele sounds)
3. neck

4. middle (the added Fender pup)
5. bridge and middle in parallel
6. middle and neck in parallel
7. bridge, middle and neck in parallel
8. bridge in parallel with middle and neck in series
9. bridge and middle in series
10. bridge and neck in series
11. middle and neck in series
12. bridge, middle and neck in series

They are Göldo roller trees (from Thomann Music Store).

thanks, those are much better looking than the ones at stewmac or allparts. USA players, note that 'mighty mite' seems to be very similar to the Goldo.

Thanks for putting up the sound samples. This really helps people when they come here to have a good solid reference as to how the different mods and configurations change the tone of the guitar.
