I'm mainly concerned with which amp/speakers Joe used for recording Sweet Emotion and Walk this Way. Tone Master, Twin Blackface, Marshall with 8 10's? There was a handwired model that I can't remember the name of now, but many argue that those were not available at that time, and some say Perry and/or Whitman were the ones who put those amps into production.
I've come close to the tone with my SS Randall and blown Pro-Mags, but not givin'-the-tubes-and-cones-hell close.

From the dubiously titled "ToneArchive.com," the excitingly titled: Joe Perry talks about his rig circa 1978. First thing I see there is he shielded one of his guitars. Instant kudos. Second thing is that concerning amps in the studios, he states: "When I’m at the Record Plant in New York City, I use some Ampegs they have there, really hot Ampegs that sound a lot like Fender Dual Showmans. The Ampegs are new ones but they’ve been reworked.""Reworked" - Nightmare. At least the Dual Showman is a start. Perry's always a slippery customer. His wall of Gibsons at his concerts these days is just for show - apparently he doesn't use them at all. Best of luck. I'm looking forward to reading about your results.

Great find, ASmith. You wouldn't happen to be an aerosmith fan, would you? They are actually my favorite band.

I had a "Night in the Ruts" T-shirt in junior high that everybody loved and no one I know, even to this day, has ever heard of the album. Okay, 1 or 2 people.
Wall of Gibsons? I've heard of fake walls of Marshalls... I hear Joe is the posterboy for LP's. Thanks ASmith!

IJWS - My middle names are Edward Robert Oliver. SG - that photo looks reasonably alike this guy. The six-stringed confidence tricks behind him look like the Jeff Beck Edition LP. By "wall of Gibsons" I was referring to Gibson Goldtone cabs. On the Just Push Play tour and the following DVD Rockin' the Joint, Perry played in front of this set-up. Of course most things go direct from the pedals and heads to the PA anyway, with the exception of this.

2 x 15's - I would have already had that done if my wife let me. Wait 'til she isn't lookin' - I have my eye on a couple of MCM's since the D140's fell thru. $$$$
Goltones - forgot about those!
I KNEW the guitar techs were the ones who put all the scratches on the guitars!!!
