I have a H&K Switchblade 100W 2x12 combo. I love the tones it gets and have used it in large outdoor venues and clubs, but man is it loud - as is common with high power tube amps - I have to turn it up to get great tone. SO, I am looking at attenuators to soak down the volume. There seems to be two types: VOLUME attenuators which are placed behind the preamp in the effects loop, or POWER attenuators which go behind the power amp in front of the speakers. Is one better than the other for preserving tone? The preamp Volume type seems more affordable. Any relevant feedback is welcome.
Thanks
