This was built for some raucous bass fuzz, based on the Zvex Woolly Mammoth, a simple little veroboard build with some evil sounds, uses 2 x 2n3904 transistors to generate the nastiness. Heres a rather crude youtube soundclip

based on the Zvex Woolly Mammoth Don't say that. Zach might come after you with lawyers in tow.

using a basic fuzz circuit thats been kicking around for 35 years, a home hobby build, I hope his lawyers have better things to do with their time...

Well, that was certainly enough fuzz for two bass players... What does it do if you feed an overdrive into it?

gotta give that a try! Thinking of rebuilding with a blend knob added for bass to mix in some dry signal, might make it a bit less Trunk-in-yer-Face

You know what would make a great fuzz pedal? A QuadraFuzz pedal! ^_^

I'm thinking this is one of those fuzzes which sort of expects to load down passive pickuls attached to it. A low input Z kills a bunch of treble on the way in, so that less tone shaping is required inside the pedal.
After a buffered OD it may start to get a bit fizzy and splatty. Course, there's a place for that kind of thing, too...

Some of the Zvex pedals have a reputation for sounding awful with an active guitar/bass input. I tried this one with both active and passive basses and it sounds immense, too big for me to make use of in my band, but maybe with a blend knob, it might tame it sufficiently for some RATM or Muse numbers
