Is it possible to set up a 5-way standard switch as follows?
1: B
2: B+M
3: B+N
4: M+N
5: N

No, not in that order and still preserve the other pole for tone circuit selection. It makes my head hurt just thinking about it, but I don't think that even using both poles will help.
The standard 5-way is really a 2-pole 3-way w/ two extra notches in the mechanism (hence the "notch" positions 2&4). It's really just a one of three selector w/ some "free" adjacent pole shorting (a make before break w/ a "rest stop" in betwixt).
The Stewart MacDonald Megaswitch "E" will do this intrinsically. You could also use a 2-pole 5-way (or a 4-pole 5-way).

Hey Randomhero. You can get all those combos except the middle+neck combo. If you reverse the bridge and middle wires on your 5 way youll get: 1middle, 2 mid/ bridge, 3 bridge, 4 bridge/ neck, 5 neck. This is free but I recently went and got a push pull pot for the volume and now I get all the original combos plus with the pot pulled I get the bridge/neck combo and all three at once. These are both very cool sounds and I highly recomend the mod. Try the free way first, the bridge/neck comdo is a great sound. I did mod number 2 on this page: www.stocklogic.com/nohum/. 3 toggle switches anyone? It's MUCH easier to wire than a superswitch, it's cheaper and it's intuitive.

Actually, I think I like Damian's idea with a slight twist; I'll reverse the neck and middle leads. That way, the first three positions would act like a three-way, and I rarely use the mid pup with the bridge, so...

Check out the hastings mod on the main GN1 site. It uses a standard strat switch and provides these combinations:
N
N+M
NxB
M+B
B
Where + is parallel, and x is series. It's a really brilliant mod. I've done it myself on a HSS super strat and love it.

That looks ideal, except that I'm using fairly hot humbuckers in the neck and bridge, and series would simply mud the tone to unuseability I think... especially considering it's a 7-string...

I actually had did that mod on a japanese Strat-copy, my first guitar, and liked it quite a bit. The only problem with this is that it's a rear-routed body, and I don't want to drill holes in it...
