Good pedal if you can find it at a decent price. I went to the local used music shop and had the opportunity to test a couple if distortion pedals since my pedal board is lacking a decent one. First I tested the wampler plextortion. (i really want one) but I wasn't ready to.drop 200 bucks this time around since my wife's birthday next week. So I started out looking at those under 100 dollars. After trying a few obvious tone suckers I moved on to a radial bone tone Hollywood distortion. I found the distortion to be very loose and when pushing the gain and level tends to sound flat for my taste. Then when I was about to leave one of the guys pulls out a boss power stack. I was a bit turned off when he said it was meant to replicate a mesa, my brother used to own a mesa and it was very high gain too much that I could use. As for the pedal, not so, it can go from crunch to ultra distortion. My personal opinion is (please keep in mind that the Marine Corps has left me with noticeable hearing loss) Pros: sound very tight, sound knob such is more or less the gain knob can dial in bluesy break up to heavy metal. Not necessarily death metal but it can get pretty heavy. Cons: no mids, the only eq knobs are bass and treble.
In retrospect: I paid 60 dollars for mine and its in excellent condition! Compared to high dollar pedals it obviously can't boast that its a Marshall stack in a box or brown tone in a box. And though the reviews claim its an amp modler pedal. But it sounds good, full, and can be very pleasing especially if you can pick one up for a good price.
