I have a Hodad guitar with "Humbucker" lipsticks in it, but the problem is that Dano didn't wire these as humbuckers (not RWRP). So I'm going to try to open up on pickup and flip the insides (not end for end, but twist it 1/2 turn), which should do the trick.
Has anyone pulled one of these apart? I can't get the two halves of the tube to pull apart. Any clues how to get these apart without damaging the case would be a big help.

can't help on the disassembly. would really like to know how that turns out though. didn't know you could get a pickup to act right with the magnet on top. thought you'd have to flip just the magnet and change the wires from the coil.

While I still haven't seen the insides, I believe that the insides are comprised of a magnet wrapped in wire. In other words, it's symetrical. Most pickups have the magnet at the bottom with pole pieces. So I you flip it, the polarity is reversed and so is the winding. Why Dano didn't do this is beyond me. Here's what I'm basing it on: www.cigarboxguitars.com/images/lipstick_tube.jpg

dano didn't do this way back when 'cause back then folks hadn't thought it out. on the re-issue, if they didn't do it, they could claim that it wouldn't be as authentic. i say if they didn't do it on the re-issues it was either dumb, lazy, or cheapness. (cheaper to stock 10,000 regular pickups than 5,000 regular and 5,000 rwrp. at an additional $0.05 per pu to mark and store separate the rwrp stock, they would save an additional $250 on an 5000 guitar production run.)
checked out that link. i've heard of people describing " a dark and smoky sound". guess he's going for it literally!
thanks for that link to the pic. the old guy learned somethin' today.
my guess is the two halves would held together with loctite or glyptol or soldered. maybe try some acetone where the case is joined together. not so much that it gets all the way inside and ruins the coil though. if it is loctite or glyptol, the acetone will soften it after about 10~20 sec. if its threaded you'll need to put a drop on repeatedly as you gradually unthread the halves. mind you, i'm only guessing as to how this thing is put together.
