I am considering rewiring my strat.
The tonemonster options seems very attracting
Anyone that has sound samples or links to samples?
Thanks

Jazzy -The tonemonster diagram on GN gives you all the options for one, two or three pups in series, or in parallel. I have built another design, that also does this. also adding a phase switch. (see the tone monster thread on this site). The sounds would be the same for each design, or for any design that gives you the same wiring combinations. Are there particular combos you are interested in? Id be happy to attempt two or three MP3 clips (probably this weekend), unless someone else can point to some sooner.
The sounds would all depend o the pups of course. Mine are fairly meaty ceramic single coils, as part of the '80's Hondo Strat copy that I tested my design on.

Thanks John,
I'm interested in all the sounds that I cannot get yet from my USA standard Fender Strat with 5 switch, particularly the combinations neck-bridge (series and parallel)
I'm looking forward to any mp3's (some comparison on simple chords to standard pickup??) they would probably help a lot in my decision to start this "project"

tone monster sounds cool and even works with active pus (which actually should be impossible)
maybe i can record something, but as i said, have active pus in my guitar

OK then – Here are my samples! They feature my reworked Hondo Strat copy, with its original ceramic single coils. The clips are all directly injected into the computer via an old tape deck as a preamp, with no effects added. Each clip is one just recording – plain vanilla. In each, I have attempted to switch between several pickup combos, without falling in a big heap on the floor. The changes are all made by flicking one toggle. I hope it is clear from the changes in tone where the transitions happen. My favourite new sounds are all in series (its so loud), and BN in series out of phase (end of clip1) Clip1 - is as follows: 1. bridge 2. bridge and middle in series 3. bridge, middle and neck in series 4. bridge, middle and neck in series (neck out of phase) 5. bridge and neck (neck out of phase) people.smartchat.net.au/~l_jhewitt/circuits/johnhsss1.mp3Clip 2: 1. bridge, middle and neck in parallel 2. bridge, middle and neck in series 3. bridge and neck in series 4. bridge and neck in parallel people.smartchat.net.au/~l_jhewitt/circuits/johnhsss2.mp3I hope they are of interest I have a few thoughts on the various circuits that make these sounds, which I'll save fro another post – there are several versions of designs with toggle switches for series and parallel, including Wolf’s, Dan Armstrong’s, the original Tonemonster on Guitar nuts, and also my design which I used for the clips They all have various advantages. One thing I would add to those without, is a phase switch. Easy to do, but not provided on the original TM or the Dan armstrong design. John

Hi John,
Thanks a lot.
Some very usable sounds I think. Helps a lot.
I will have a look if I can also approximate them with EQing or other tricks but I expect that the only real solution is the real thing so: rewiring. Tough job for a rather newbie I guess.
Thanks for the extra info as well
