I decided to try out some Joyo boxes. My tubescreamer and grunge are both on their last leg (they can only be resoldered so many times) I got the Dynamic Compressor, Analogue Delay, Extreme Metal and Vintage overdrive. Bad cell phone night time pic: guitar to amp is: Compressor > Lightly Modded DS-1 > Vintage overdrive > Extreme Metal > BYOC Flanger > CE-5 Chorus > Delay I've never used a compressor before, and after a few minutes, i can see why people like 'em. It does exactly what i thought a compressor does. The Overdrive sounds like a tubescreamer. Exactly like the TS-5 it's replacing, but with a bit more range on both sides of the gain and tone. The Extreme Metal sounds very close to the grunge, but has a little more mid range i can't seem to find a way to get rid of (has a 3 band EQ rather than 2 on the grunge). it also has less gain(yay). I suspect the grunge is also based off of a metal muff circuit. The delay is cool too, but I don't know how to properly use one yet. and I also got a 98 MIM at a pawn shop for $138 a few days after Christmas. Stripped it down completely, scrubbed it clean (other peoples finger dirt is gross) straightened and shimmed the neck, and swapped the pups to something different. Digital camera pic:
