i trying to wire my telecaster . a 3 way switch. anyways when i went to test it . The volume control acted like a tone control. i didnt use any capasitors . I didnt have a tone control wired yet. any ideas how i can make this pot a volume control. Thanks

there are a couple of ways a pot can act more like a tone control than a volume control even without a cap.: here are instructions for a single volume control. if you look at your pot from the rear, and turn your head or the guitar so the round part is at the top and the connections are at the bottom: - the connection on the left is for the pickup (or selector switch output)
- the connection in the middle goes to the output jack "tip"
- the connection on the right is connected to ground.
give us a shout back once you've wired it this way, and let us know what the original wiring was. U.M.

k i got it working. I took all the wires off again and did the whole wiring again. I dont know what i did wrong the 1st time. I thought i did it the same way. must have been a short somewhere.

i'm sad 'cause you didn't get to figure out exactly what was wrong that caused this effect.
but, i'm way happier that you got your guitar working.
