i realise that this isn't strictly electronics, but it seems the best place to post. i have a humbucker without a cover that i want to put a cover on.
my question is - should i solder the cover on, then dip it in the boiling wax for an hour? or pour wax in the cover then push the pickup in? (this wouldn't get as much air bubbles out, would it?) or do something else?
anyone got any experience of this?
thanks.

Do i even need to pot it? it is a well made coverless humbucker to begin with - these will have been potted anyway, won't they? - the coils will already have wax in all the right places even though there is no metal cover on. (won't it?)
will it be ok just using a piece of tape, or a small amount of wax poured into the cover?, then soldering it on, on each side between the d and g string bits?
