I have done a lot of strat projects. But this one has me puzzeled.I bought a real nice mim neck with fender tuners on the cheap $ 40.00 so I picked up a cheap squire oldie full thickness body . The neck is 1/8 thinner than the pocket .sucks. I have swapped out many never ran into this .The squire neck heel is wider says 1996 in the heel. should I shim it or move on to another body?

Give it a little angle first, by shimming. If it turns out to sound good, good lows, good sustain, and if you like it, then keep it. Otherwise you might try with a new body. Although smth tells me that there is always the possibility that if a neck sucks from its guts, nothing will change this, no matter how many the mods, no matter what the body will look like.
